Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain effective communication channels for IS-related information, ensuring timely dissemination to stakeholders.
  • Design and update various web sites within Information Systems, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Manage server/application information, including impact, contacts, owners, and other relevant details.
  • Contribute to the development of IS policies, focusing on change control, incident and problem management, and other critical areas.
  • Create user guides and written communications to support IS operations and customer needs.
  • Develop and update Knowledge Base articles to enhance internal customer IS processes.
  • Communicate outage information, identify recurring problems, and collaborate with IS personnel on status updates.
  • Participate in change control and root cause analysis processes, ensuring effective resolution of issues.
  • Contribute to the development of overall Change Management strategy for program-related initiatives.
  • Administer monthly reporting on service levels, providing valuable insights for improvement.

About the Role:

FortisBC is seeking a skilled IS Communication Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Information Systems department, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective communication channels, designing and updating web sites, and managing server/application information.

Requirements:

  • Certificate in Communications or a related field, supplemented by courses in Computer Information Systems or Web design.
  • Three years of directly related experience in IS communication, web development, or a related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer network concepts, web development, and communication technology.
  • Strong communication planning and project management skills, with sound budgeting and time management abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proofreading and presentation skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
