Transportation Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist to join our team at Dillon Consulting. As a key member of our transportation group, you will be responsible for designing and coordinating transportation projects, including preliminary and detailed design, engineering studies, and technical specifications.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and studies to support the development of transportation engineering designs, including EA documentation.
- Design transportation projects, including preliminary and detailed design, engineering studies, and technical specifications.
- Conduct site investigations and condition assessments.
- Complete review of safe work practices and perform risk assessments.
- Prepare contract documentation, including contract drawings, construction specifications, tender quantity and cost estimates, and working day estimates.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, engineering technologists, and administrative support staff.
Business Development
- Contribute to the preparation of estimates and project proposals.
- Contribute to the leadership and growth of the Transportation group.
- Contribute to the development of public and private sector client relationships and new business opportunities.
- Travel to client locations and/or other Dillon offices for the purposes of executing your responsibilities, internal client relationship development, project research, and project delivery.
Learning and Development

- Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring.
- Contribute to Dillon's corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.
Qualifications
- A degree in civil or transportation engineering or a diploma in civil engineering technology.
- Licensed to practice as an engineer-in-training in the province of Ontario, or eligible to be licensed within six months, or registered as a civil engineering technologist in the province of Ontario, or eligible to be registered within six months.
- 3-8 years of experience with exposure to consulting.
Experience
- Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices.
- Understanding of project design and implementation activities, including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration.
- Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Civil 3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, or InRoads software will be considered an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
