About the Role

The KPU Community Ambassador is a vital part of the Community Engagement & Major Events Office, responsible for sharing the KPU student experience with prospective students, their parents, and attendees at community events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct informative campus tours for prospective students, highlighting the university's academic programs and campus facilities.
  • Engage with prospective students and community members at events, on social media, and through email and telephone communications, providing exceptional customer service and promoting KPU's brand.
  • Assist with event planning, setup, coordination, and operational logistics, ensuring seamless execution and a positive experience for attendees.
  • Provide knowledgeable, timely, and professional support to prospective students, answering their questions and addressing their concerns.
  • Act in accordance with KPU branding standards, maintaining a consistent and professional image.
Qualifications
  • Current KPU student in good academic standing, with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Outgoing and enthusiastic, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate and experienced with Microsoft Office software.
  • Reliable, responsible, and professional, with a customer service-oriented approach.
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently, with effective multi-tasking skills.
  • Experienced public speaker, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Social Media savvy, with a strong understanding of online platforms and their applications.
  • Sensitive to diverse student needs, with a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Available for shifts at any campus or community event, as needed, and willing to work evenings and weekends as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Access to a reliable vehicle, for travel to and from events and campus locations.
  • Proficiency in a second language, to enhance communication with diverse audiences.
Salary Information

Student Assistants are paid according to the following rates:

  • Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) – BC Minimum Wage.
  • One year of post-secondary credits) – BC Minimum Wage plus 8%.
  • With a post-secondary diploma or degree – BC Minimum Wage plus 21%.
