We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Elementary Learning Assistant Teacher to join our team at the York Region District School Board. Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify and program for students with diverse learning needs
- Develop and implement differentiated learning pedagogy to maximize student potential
- Work with Indigenous learners in a culturally diverse community to promote greater community involvement in school-based activities and educational programming
- Integrate self-regulation and social-emotional care practices in the classroom
- Develop and support Student Learning Plans, Behaviour Plans, Safety Plans, and Individual Education Plans
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to establish cooperative and authentic connections
- Develop and maintain strong and respectful relationships with students, their families, and the community
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent with coursework and experience in Special Education
- Experience working with and facilitating collaborative multi-disciplinary School Based Teams
- Strong classroom management, planning, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain an authentic relationship with the community
- Strong understanding of a philosophy of inclusive education and excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills
- Experience teaching in a multi-grade class
- Experience integrating project-based learning to support curriculum outcomes
- Strong understanding and experience with implementing on-the-land curriculum
- Ability to plan, deliver, and analyze in the integration of project-based learning
