Job Overview

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Intermediate Project Engineer - Facilities to join our team at our Glenmore Office location. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating detailed engineering, procurement, and fabrication for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Intermediate Project Engineer - Facilities will assist in planning and executing projects, including budget management, procurement, and construction oversight.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Facility Engineering
    1. Design and optimize facilities to meet client requirements.
    2. Develop and implement design basis memoranda, project execution plans, and other project support plans.
    3. Ensure design execution adheres to material budgets and Class III cost estimates.
    4. Coordinate with stakeholders to mitigate cost and schedule impacts due to preventable late project changes.
    5. Monitor technical design changes to ensure safety, code/spec compliance, maintainability, and operability.
    6. Participate in detailed design and 3D model reviews, process hazard assessments, SIL analysis, constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews.
    7. Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
    8. Conduct engineering calculations, simulations, and modeling to optimize facility performance and efficiency.
  2. Equipment Selection and Maintenance
    1. Select and specify equipment for gas processing facilities, including compressors, heat exchangers, separators, filters, etc.
    2. Develop maintenance strategies, encompassing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
    3. Support the engineering and procurement groups to ensure RFQs and POs for vendor-engineered and/or supplied equipment are complete and accurate to minimize changes and mitigate cost increases.
  3. Technical Excellence
    1. Project execution
    2. Ensure quality engineering and procurement deliverables, vendor drawing and data requirements, vendor procurement and fabrication schedule milestones, testing/checking/inspection/quality assurance schedule milestones, and shipping schedule milestones are met on schedule and on budget.
    3. Develop, check, and issue complete and accurate engineering work packages and/or construction work packages on schedule.
    4. Manage schedules and man-hour budgets.
    5. Manage the identification, clarification, and disposition of non-conformances, requests for information, and trends in support of the management of change program.
  4. Safety and Environmental Compliance
    1. Implement and maintain safety management systems, emergency response plans, and environmental monitoring programs.
    2. Stay updated on safety and environmental regulations and incorporate them into the design and operation of gas processing facilities.
  5. Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration
    1. Communicate effectively with external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance and project success.
    2. Foster positive relationships and maintain effective communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
  6. Continuous Improvement
    1. Ensure the incorporation of lessons learned from previous projects into the engineering of current projects.
    2. Stay updated with industry advancements and trends in packaging design and technology.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in the design, engineering, and fabrication of gas processing facilities.
  3. Experience in facility design, construction, and maintenance, preferably in a similar industry or environment.
  4. Knowledge of typical oil and gas equipment and systems, such as separators, towers, storage tanks/bullets, flares, and knockouts, instrument air, heat medium packages, truck loading, pumps, and modularization.
  5. P.Eng (APEGA) or Professional Licensee (Engineering).
  6. Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint) and strong ability to work well with customers, vendors, designers, and fabrication staff.
  7. Good understanding of ASME/ANSI/API/CSA codes and ABSA requirements.
