The Societe Generale de Surveillance SA (SGS) is seeking a highly skilled Data Modeling Risk Management Expert to join its esteemed team in the United States. This dynamic role will play a pivotal part in ensuring the optimal performance and governance of models within the company.

Responsibilities

This expert will be responsible for conducting thorough reviews of models at various stages of their lifecycle, focusing on assessing conceptual soundness, data quality, model output accuracy, and ongoing monitoring. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including validators, developers, stakeholders, IT, auditors, and business partners, to ensure seamless integration and effective risk management.

In this capacity, the successful applicant will:

  • Evaluate models' conceptual soundness by performing quantitative analyses and statistical tests.
  • Verify data input quality and processing as well as model output accuracy using large, complex datasets.
  • Review ongoing monitoring processes to ensure timely adjustments or replacements of models.
  • Assess model governance aspects, including change management and continuous monitoring.
Requirements

To be considered for this exceptional opportunity, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (Master's or PhD preferred) in a quantitative field like Mathematical Finance, Financial Engineering, Statistics, or STEM.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in model development, validation, or front-office quant roles; fewer years accepted with a PhD.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong programming skills in Python, R, C++, or similar, along with advanced knowledge of statistics, econometrics, and machine learning.
  • Data Management: Experience working with large datasets and quantitative analysis.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Model Risk: Familiarity with model risk management practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Languages: English fluency required, as regular communication with colleagues and partners in the United States is essential.
