Fire Protection Coop for Fire Safety and Emergency Management Services

About the Position

LRI Engineering Inc., a leading Canadian engineering firm specializing in Fire Protection Engineering, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fire Protection Coop for their Fire Safety and Emergency Management Services team.

The selected candidate will be involved in various tasks related to fire safety and emergency management services, including fire safety plan preparation, evacuation drills, and fire code compliance reviews and audits. The Fire Protection Coop will work under the supervision of an assigned mentor and will have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist with the preparation of fire safety plans and emergency plans
  2. Monitor evacuation drills and produce reports
  3. Review and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  4. Assist with fire code compliance reviews and audits
  5. Design and coordinate fire safety training, drills, and exercises
  6. Conduct risk assessments and audits
  7. Prepare fire warden training
  8. Communicate with clients via telephone, email, and letter
  9. Attend client meetings and meetings with authorities having jurisdiction
  10. Prepare proposals for clients

Requirements

  1. Currently attending or recently graduated from a university or college program related to fire safety or fire protection
  2. Interest in the fire protection, life safety, and emergency management industry
  3. Ability to familiarize yourself with building, fire, life safety, and emergency management codes, standards, and best practices
  4. Technically oriented with good analytical and organizational skills
  5. Ability to complete tasks and projects in established timelines
  6. Self-starter with high initiative and resourcefulness
  7. Accountable individual with high standards
  8. Ability to manage varying workloads
  9. Team player
  10. Prior experience with AutoCAD is an asset
  11. Proficient with Microsoft Office
  12. Bilingual in French and English is an asset
