**Job Title:** Maintenance Supervisor, Mechanical Department
**Job Summary:** Metro Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to lead the Mechanical Department at the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of approximately 15 mechanical tradespeople, prioritizing safety and quality of work in all maintenance activities.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Supervise and coordinate the maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical equipment at the wastewater treatment facilities.
- Develop and implement modifications and upgrades to existing equipment and facilities.
- Manage corrective and preventative maintenance program activities, employing various technologies and methods to improve equipment reliability and reduce cost-intensive repairs.
- Monitor and control spending, ensuring effective and efficient expenditure of allocated funds within the approved budget.
- Coordinate and schedule work with the Operations Supervisor, utilizing the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system for managing work orders, equipment records, and purchase orders.
- Oversee the work of employees and contractors, ensuring work is performed safely and to required standards.
- Employ new technologies for preventative and predictive maintenance of equipment, making technical decisions and troubleshooting repairs and modifications.
- Hire, supervise, direct, and develop staff, monitoring performance towards division, department, and corporate objectives.
- Ensure safe work procedures are integrated into work routines, conducting regular safety meetings and preparing written safety and emergency procedures.
- Coordinate the efficient and effective maintenance and repair of Metro Vancouver's wastewater treatment equipment.
- Perform other related duties as required.
**Requirements:**
- 3 years of recent, related experience supplemented by a university degree or diploma in a relevant discipline such as mechanical technology or engineering and an Interprovincial Trades Qualification (IPTQ) in a relevant trade such as Electrical, Millwright, or Instrumentation.
- Complete understanding and knowledge of maintenance practices, including planning, equipment reliability, and preventative maintenance techniques.
- Possesses a mechanical aptitude and ability to lead or advise staff in the use of a wide variety of equipment, technologies, and methodologies related to equipment maintenance and repair.
- Sound knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations and considerable experience related to implementing and leading safe work procedures and practices.
- Ability to work within established budgetary and financial objectives, possessing sound basic budgeting and accounting skills.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills, including the ability to understand and consistently apply and explain collective agreement provisions and corporate policies.
- Ability to use judgment to resolve problems by adapting or applying procedures to address issues and problem situations.
- Sound written and oral communication skills, with the ability to provide clear direction to staff in emergency situations.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Proficiency using Microsoft office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as the HxGN EAM Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.
