Emergency Medicine Physician

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Medicine Physician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. This is a full-time opportunity between Yarmouth Regional Hospital and Digby General Hospital, serving a population of approximately 60,000 in three counties.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in teaching through the family medicine residency program based in Yarmouth and/or with medical students through Dalhousie University.
Responsibilities- Examine patients, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
- Advise patients on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention
- Consult and refer to other medical practitioners
- Act as a patient advocate
- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
- College of Family Physicians of Canada Emergency Medicine certification would be considered an asset
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- Eligibility for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Emergency department experience an asset
