Role Description:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Transport Electrical Designer for our Markham office in Toronto. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transport electrical design, with a focus on public and private sector projects. They will be responsible for preparing reports, proposals, and liaising with clients to deliver successful results.

Role Accountabilities:

The primary focus of this role is Traffic Signal and/or Roadway Lighting design for transportation facilities. The successful candidate will work with technical staff to prepare preliminary and detailed traffic/intersection design drawings, estimates, specifications, and proposals. They will also assist in preparing reports on the nature, status, and results of design or study assignments.

This role will involve working on client relationship building and management, including business development activities, proposal preparation, and project coordination. The candidate will communicate effectively with clients and internal team members, contributing to the successful design, production, coordination, and management of traffic signal design and lighting projects.

The successful candidate will lead and contribute to the design, production, coordination, and management of traffic signal design and lighting projects. They will develop traffic signal, lighting, or auxiliary systems designs in AutoCAD and/or Microstation, including layout, single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, photometric layouts, and grounding details.

They will also perform utility coordination duties for electrical transport-related design and construction projects, prepare technical reports, tender documentation, and field support, including commissioning, traffic signal turn-on, and site inspection.

This person will ensure that engineering deliverables comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures, and sound engineering practices. They will review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Completed Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Traffic/Civil Engineering

10 years relevant experience in intersection/traffic signal design, ideally in a design-consulting or utility environment

Must have or be eligible for the P. Eng. designation in Ontario

Must be proficient with AutoCAD and Microstation

Proficient with AGI 32

Working knowledge of Ontario Traffic Manuals (Book 12, 15, 5, & 7), Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Ontario Traffic Manuals (OTM), Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices Canada (MUTCDC), and Technical Manuals published by the Transportation Association of Canada

A valid driver's license and vehicle are required

Experience with O.Reg 22/04 certification and liaising with utility authorities

Experience with pole loading software i.e. SPIDAcalc or equivalent is an asset

Experience performing electrical site inspections, construction supervision, and contract administration

Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering various complex projects with large size and scope

Experience working on MTO Minor and Major Electrical projects

MTO Major RAQS qualified is an asset
