Casual Childcare Job Summary

At Hopes Home, we are seeking a dedicated Casual Childcare worker to provide staffing support within our Early Learning & Childcare Programs. This is a unique opportunity to work with a diverse group of children, developing fun and engaging daily experiences that support their growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Early Childhood Educator
  • Engage in active supervision to protect and promote the psychological and physical safety, health, and well-being of each child.
  • Develop sincere, understanding, and loving relationships with each child through one-on-one interactions.
  • Implement inclusive daily experiences that cater to all ability levels, collaborating with colleagues when extra support is needed.
  • Encourage children to participate in invitations and creative expression through art, dramatic play, and music.
  • Observe children's ideas and interests, providing feedback on classroom activities.
  • Implement interventions and strategies to support observed behaviors.
  • Perform general cleaning duties such as laundry and toy sterilization.
  • Developmental Worker
  • Engage in active supervision to protect and promote the psychological and physical safety, health, and well-being of each child.
  • Adhere to children's personal care plans as advised by supporting professionals.
  • Attend to child's personal care duties, including dressing, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans in collaboration with managers and families.
  • Implement intervention and strategies to support observed behaviors.
  • Work with the Physical Development Consultant to understand child's Personal Program Plan goals and implement daily activities to enhance growth.
  • Implement therapies as directed by management and/or supporting professionals.
  • Nutrition Specialist
  • Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks, adhering to nutritional standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with nurses and caregivers to create individualized menus for special dietary needs.
  • Ensure meal alternatives are available for children with allergies and special diets.
  • Clean dishes and kitchen after each meal/snack, following public health guidelines.
  • Perform sanitary measures, including washing floors and surfaces, and proper food storage and disposal.
  • Deep clean the kitchen on a regular basis, including sanitizing cupboards and appliances.

Working Conditions

  • Monday to Friday workdays with varied start and end times between 7am and 5:30pm.
  • Physically able to work with objects or persons of varying sizes, handling ~100 lbs occasionally, ~50 lbs regularly, and ~25 lbs continuously.
  • Exposed to chemicals, blood, and bodily fluids.
  • Fast-paced, noisy environment.
  • Work with adaptive equipment and technologies.
  • Work outdoors with children in all types of weather conditions.
