Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Molecular Biologist to lead our Clinical Laboratory Drug Resistance Testing and Genotyping team at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and providing work direction to the team, ensuring timely and accurate results, and maintaining quality assurance and quality control standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Clinical Laboratory Drug Resistance Testing and Genotyping team
Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of team members
Perform complex laboratory procedures, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, sequencing, and data analysis
Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
Prepare and validate laboratory reagent stocks
Prepare technical reports and summaries
Ensure quality assurance and quality control standards are maintained

Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in a molecular biology laboratory
Minimum 2 years of experience in a regulated/accredited clinical laboratory setting
1 year of experience in a supervisory capacity
Comprehensive knowledge of molecular laboratory methods
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others
Strong verbal and technical writing skills
