At Southbridge Care Homes, we are seeking a skilled Culinary Expert to join our team in a part time/casual position at our Thunder Bay location.

We offer a competitive salary of approximately $45,000 per year, taking into account the requirements and responsibilities associated with this role.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing menus, preparing food according to standardized recipes and production sheets. In the absence of the Food Services Manager, they will assist with management responsibilities and ensure seamless operations.

Maintaining quality and quantity of food supplies is crucial; the Culinary Expert will monitor these aspects and recommend corrective actions when necessary.

They will also coach Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and serve activities, assuming responsibility for routine departmental operations in the absence of the Food Services Manager.

Furthermore, they will maintain all required records and cooperate with other departments to meet resident needs.

Required Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet one of the following qualification scenarios:

  • Chef training or culinary management certificate/diploma from a program meeting the Ontario Long Term Care Act requirements;
  • Certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by an authority meeting the Ontario Long Term Care Act requirements;
  • Post-secondary diploma in food and nutrition management or a post-secondary degree in food and nutrition.
