Railcar Inspector

We are seeking a highly skilled Railcar Inspector to join our team at GATX. As a Railcar Inspector, you will be responsible for performing inspections on various types of railroad cars and equipment to ensure they meet our high standards of quality and safety.

• Conduct thorough inspections of railcars and equipment to identify any defects or issues
• Prepare accurate and detailed estimates of repairs needed to meet customer and regulatory requirements
• Select the appropriate materials for repairs and ensure compliance with GATX guidelines and regulations
• Perform Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) and pre-work activities to facilitate the inspection process
• Complete all required documentation to ensure accurate billing and communication of completed repairs

• High school diploma or equivalent, with 2-5 years of experience in inspection, railcar repair, or related activities
• Knowledge of Technical Instructions (EN), Improvement Orders (IO), and Maintenance Instructions (FM)
• Ability to read and understand technical documents, procedures, and instructions
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
