The Skyline Group of Companies is seeking a detail-oriented Fire and Life Safety Administrator to join our team in Guelph, Ontario. As a key member of the Fire and Life Safety department, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating revisions of building floor and fire safety plans to ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code, the Ontario Fire Code, and all other applicable regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Fire & Life Safety Specialist in creating detailed plans showing arrangement of walls, dividers, displays, lighting, and other fixtures using computer-assisted design (CAD) software and graphics software for presentations, proposals, our website, as well as fire safety plans;
  • Liaising with city officials and fire prevention officers to ensure fire safety planning is up to date and in accordance with current practices, safety regulations, and codes;
  • Performing follow-up communications, actions, and documentations with various Fire Departments and building/property managers to ensure Fire Safety Plans are accurate, up to date, and approved;
  • Developing and maintaining detailed systems to track and organize inspection paperwork and other documentation;
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of fire and life safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
  • Working with the Fire & Life Safety Specialist in creating, organizing, and presenting training related to fire and life safety equipment and systems;
  • Maintaining and updating building plans, technical information, drawings, and other related information on building portfolio.

This role requires:

  • A post-secondary education equivalent to a college diploma in business administration or a related field;
  • Experience working in a professional office environment;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Outlook; extensive Excel knowledge is an asset;
  • An understanding of and ability to apply Building Code design requirements is an asset;
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and automobile insurance.
