Job Summary

As a key member of the Global Privacy Office, the Senior Manager, Privacy will play a crucial role in mitigating privacy risks and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position will work closely with the Canadian and Caribbean Privacy team to provide strategic advice and guidance on privacy matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regularly review and improve core Privacy compliance programs to ensure they meet regulatory, legal, and RBC's privacy obligations and commitments.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on privacy and work closely with key business partners to provide support and guidance on privacy regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Perform Privacy Risk Assessments on new initiatives and third parties, identifying privacy risks to the business.
  • Report and track recommendations/issues raised during privacy risk assessments.
  • Execute routine reviews of 2LOD privacy controls, processes, and procedures, including Processing Activity Risk Assessments (PARA) and Privacy Incident Reporting Tool (PIRT) 2LOD oversight activities and methodologies.
  • Support inquiries from privacy authorities and investigations related to privacy issues.
  • Manage and support investigations and incidents related to privacy breaches.
  • Support privacy diligence requirements for acquisitions and third-party vendors and suppliers as required.
  • Conduct research and environmental scans on privacy controls and emerging trends.
  • Develop strong relationships with various stakeholders to foster a culture of privacy.
  • Report on changes in applicable laws and regulations and provide guidance and training as needed.
Requirements
  • University undergraduate degree in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of privacy, compliance, and regulatory risk management practices.
  • Experience working in the financial services industry.
  • Experience assessing design and operational effectiveness of internal controls.
  • At least 5 years of work experience interpreting and applying federal privacy law.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to respond to multiple demands and prioritize work activities.
