Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Elementary Education Specialist to join our team at Lakewood Elementary. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach communications arts, social studies, mathematics, and science to pupils in a classroom, using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Create an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
  • Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.
  • Administer group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program.
  • Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
  • Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
  • Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Comply with good safety practices.
  • Comply with all district rules, regulations, and policies.

Requirements:
  • Valid Missouri Teacher Certificate for the appropriate level.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
