About the Role


We are seeking a Senior Fund Development Specialist to join our High-End Giving team at Diabetes Canada. As a key member of our development team, you will play a crucial role in securing and building upon the prospect pool, pipeline, and maintaining existing and new relationships through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship calls.



Job Summary


This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced professional to work on developing strategies to achieve department-wide goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of mid-level and major gift individual and foundation donors and prospects to attain specific annual goals as part of the overall major gift and planned gift targets.



Key Responsibilities



  • Manage a portfolio of mid-level and major gift individual and foundation donors and prospects to attain specific annual goals
  • Secure and build upon the prospect pool, and pipeline, and maintain existing and new relationships through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship calls
  • Write high-quality grant proposals, applications, and supporting documents
  • Collaborate and coordinate efforts with the development team and across business units within Diabetes Canada
  • Schedule and manage portfolio's stewardship activities to optimize accountability and ensure donor engagement and retention
  • Maintain donor and prospect records and tracking system on the database
  • Contribute towards the development and implementation of donor cultivation and stewardship events
  • Solid understanding of brand reputation policies, practices, and principles and experience working cross-functionally specifically with communications and public relations
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to juggle multiple projects/deadlines effectively, fostering teamwork amongst colleagues
  • Sound technical abilities, including Microsoft Office software applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook), desktop publishing software, and new media and graphic design
  • Experience with data management and CRM databases

What We Offer


We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience, plus comprehensive group benefits, including health/dental, life insurance, disability coverage, Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), and company-match Pension/RRSP. Most group benefits start on Day 1 when you join Diabetes Canada. We also offer generous paid time-off benefits, including additional paid holidays beyond recognized provincial statutory holidays, and an end-of-year holiday office closure.
