Quality Supervisor Job Description

PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Quality Supervisor to join our team in Vancouver, British Columbia. As a Quality Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our construction projects and maintaining our reputation for excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Review project specifications and identify quality requirements, ensuring that quality activities align with project scope.
  • Perform visual examinations, witness, monitor, and document results as per project specifications and Inspection testing plans (ITPs).
  • Collect and compile quality turnover documentation.
  • Act as a liaison with craft/staff personnel and quality manager to provide technical assistance and guidance as needed.
  • Identify and discern root causes associated with nonconformances reports (NCRs) and present to the quality and project team.
  • Develop and implement the project quality plan, (ITPs) in alignment with project specifications.
  • Actively plan, coordinate, and participate in Quality Assurance/Quality Coordinator (QA/QC) task planning activities with construction activities.
  • Provide training and support to project teams on quality assurance processes and procedures.
  • Liaise with clients' field QA/QC representatives, third-party testing agencies, and trade contractor quality personnel.
  • Ensure supplier and vendors adhere to project specifications, including verification of delivered materials.
Qualifications
  • Craftsperson certificate or bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • 7 years proven experience in quality control and/or the construction industry, including supervisory and leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of industry; understands specifications, drawings methods, and procedures.
  • Excellent construction inspection skills on a broad range of scopes of work.
  • Knowledge of various engineering systems, principles, and practices.
  • Good understanding of and ability to interpret construction industry codes.
  • Familiar with planning and sequencing concepts.
  • Ability to identify quality risks associated with the project.
  • Ability to interpret plans and specifications, visualizing two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • Experience with internal project-quality assessments.
  • Demonstrate planning, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize own work, and delegate.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Conflict resolution and difficult conversation skills, with the ability to lead and effectively resolve disputes with trade contractors/supervisors.
  • Strong ability to coach and mentor.
  • Strong capability for adopting new technology.
  • Advanced skills with quality computer applications.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.

PCL combines numerous pay and benefit strategies to provide a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package. Any salary range displayed by a job board is an estimate. The salary range for this position is $82,000 - $95,000. Your salary, which considers your unique qualifications and experience, is just one component of the robust total rewards you'll enjoy at PCL. This may include an employee share purchase offering, discretionary annual performance bonus, comprehensive benefits and wellness programs, retirement plan plus matching, and career development programs.
