Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Culinary Porter to provide support and assistance to the Culinary and Pastry Arts programs at Okanagan College.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, ensuring meal preparation areas are tidy and sanitized.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure all kitchen equipment is in good working order and meets food health and safety regulations.
  • Assist chefs with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, and cutting meal ingredients.
  • Organize and maintain inventory of refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas, ensuring they are fully stocked and well-organized.
  • Receive and unpack deliveries, reconciling packing slips and invoices to purchase orders.
  • Provide first aid to staff and students as required, maintaining first aid supplies.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Occupational First Aid – Level 2 certificate and Food Safety Certificate required upon hiring.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to prioritize, be flexible, and manage a high work volume and competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
