Financial Controller - Private Equity

Michael Page International Canada Limited is seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our client, a Toronto-based private equity firm. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for overseeing month-end close procedures, reviewing HST returns, and preparing annual budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee month-end close procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Review HST returns on a monthly basis to ensure compliance
  • Prepare annual budgets and forecasts to drive business growth
  • Coordinate the preparation of tax returns for 70+ entities, including trusts, limited partnerships, and corporations in Canada and the US
  • Oversee the preparation of year-end audited financial statements and interact with auditors throughout the year
  • Review expense reports for personal expenses and corporate credit card programs
  • Oversee full payroll process for Canadian and US employees
  • Ensure OSC funds meet all compliance requirements
  • Calculate annual carry loans and interest
  • Calculate carry value for investment sales

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • CPA, CA designation required
  • 10+ years of professional experience in the Financial Services industry, with Private Equity/Investment Management experience preferred
  • Public Accounting experience an advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team
  • Works well in a small team environment
