Job Summary


Spark Power Corp is seeking a skilled Protection & Control Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will perform programming, testing, and verification of protection & control devices in the field.


Key Responsibilities



  • Align with safety procedures to protect yourself and team members.
  • Read and interpret electrical AC & DC schematics, AC three-line, logic diagrams, and SLDs.
  • Inspect, test, operate, and troubleshoot AC & DC control and protection wiring schematic.
  • Perform field testing, verification, and programming of various IEDs from manufacturers such as SEL, GE Multilin, GEC Alstom, Siemens, Square D, and ABB.
  • Maintain or commission power distribution equipment, including power transformers, circuit breakers, HV switches, and instrument transformers.
  • Be familiar with industry-specific codes and standards (AESO, AUEC, IEEE, and NETA).
  • Travel 70-80% of the time for out-of-town commissioning or maintenance projects.
  • Report, record, compute, and process electrical test information according to accepted standard practices.
  • Coordinate day-to-day functions on a job-by-job basis, including compliance with health and safety standards and regulations, availability of necessary resources, resolving conflicts, and timely and accurate submission of paperwork.

Requirements



  • 2-5 years of experience in P&C.
  • 2-year Electrical Engineering Technology diploma from NAIT or SAIT or Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree.
  • Registered or eligible to register with ASET or APEGA.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Able to provide technical leadership.
