Electrical Engineering Technologist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Engineering Technologist to join our field services team on a full-time basis. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and leading a commissioning crew of workers, testing and commissioning of MV/HV power system protection & control schemes, and ensuring compliance with all safety practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a commissioning crew of workers.
  • Test and commission MV/HV power system protection & control schemes.
  • Read and interpret drawings and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Train and develop employees to ensure highest performance standards.
  • Prepare and submit reports.
  • Assist with generation of commissioning startup procedures or work instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety practices.
  • Initiate and respond to customer inquiries.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Electrician Journeyman Ticket.
  • Eligible for registration with APEGGA, ASET, or similar.
  • Comprehensive understanding of key principles of electrical power system protection and controls.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in the medium voltage and/or high voltage utility substations and power generation industry.
  • Experience in relay testing of microprocessor-based protection IED's and high voltage primary equipment testing and commissioning.
  • Strong understanding of CSA Z462 safety standards and NETA/IEEE/IEC standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office software suite and strong computer skills.
