Job Title: Early Childhood Educator - Child Development Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Early Childhood Educator to join our team at ON LTD. As a Child Development Specialist, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing environment that promotes the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement child-care programs that align with the needs and abilities of our young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, ensuring their basic needs are met
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • Supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers, promoting a collaborative and supportive team environment
  • Lead activities, including storytelling, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest, fostering a love for learning and exploration
  • Order supplies and equipment, maintaining a well-stocked and safe environment
  • Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information
  • Encourage children to express their creativity through various media, such as art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
  • Engage children in activities, promoting social skills and friendships
  • Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems, preparing reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
  • Establish guidelines for behavior, promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems, ensuring effective communication and collaboration
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants


Requirements:

  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1-2 years
  • Emergency child care first aid and CPR certification
  • Food allergy and anaphylaxis training certification
  • Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of energy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
