Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sign Language Facilitator to join our team at Natrona County School. As an essential member of our educational staff, you will play a vital role in facilitating communication between students who are deaf and/or hard of hearing and their teachers.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting or transliterating all language necessary during classroom instruction, ensuring that students have equal access to academic and nonacademic activities. You will also assist in modifying classroom logistics to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a resource to special education staff to support students and colleagues.
  • Assist regular education staff in orienting them to the functions of an interpreter.
  • Modify classroom logistics to accommodate students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Interpret or transliterate all language necessary during classroom instruction.
  • Maintain daily logs to report student progress on objectives and daily work.
  • Monitor individual students for assistance as needed and ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participate in meetings related to education goals for parents and/or students who may be deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Prepare daily classroom lectures and activities to provide a learning environment meeting differing student needs.
  • Provide support/tutoring to students who are deaf or hard of hearing under the direct supervision of the teacher of the deaf/hard of hearing.
  • Ensure students who are deaf or hard of hearing have equal access to academic and nonacademic activities.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and evidence of insurability.
Estimated Salary

$52,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience.
