Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter

We are seeking a highly skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team at the Toronto Catholic District School Board. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a vital role in ensuring that deaf and hard of hearing students have equal access to education.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide interpreting services for deaf and hard of hearing students, teachers, and staff in a variety of settings, including classrooms, meetings, and events. You will work closely with teachers and staff to ensure that students have access to all educational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide interpreting services for deaf and hard of hearing students, teachers, and staff in a variety of settings
  • Work closely with teachers and staff to ensure that students have access to all educational opportunities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with deaf and hard of hearing students, teachers, and staff
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance interpreting skills and knowledge
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • 3-year College Diploma in American Sign Language English Interpreter Program or equivalent
  • Minimum one (1) year of related experience
  • Fluent in ASL, English, and manually-coded English
  • General knowledge of Secondary School curricula
  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic verified through a Pastoral reference
