Job Description

This role involves preparing quarterly income tax provisions for the organization and its associated entities, including year-end journal entries. You will also be responsible for handling the preparation and audit of withholding tax remittances, drafting and filing annual corporate tax returns for the organization and its affiliated entities in Canada, communicating with the CRA and Revenue Quebec regarding income tax audits, compiling unaudited financial statements for the organization and its related entities, supporting the head office with audits by preparing necessary workbooks and tax-related notes for financial statements, preparing T4A-NR, RL-1, and NR4 tax slips, reviewing intercompany journal entries for related entities, developing provision-to-return workbooks and associated journal entries, calculating and submitting monthly income tax installments for all entities, creating quarterly workbooks to monitor intercompany transactions, reconciling all income tax accounts for the organization and affiliated entities, verifying the accuracy of GST/HST, QST, and PST applied to sales items, overseeing the remittance process for GST/HST, QST, and PST, collecting information on special transactions and providing recommendations for sales tax compliance, staying updated on legislative changes regarding income, sales, and excise taxes and informing the team about their business impact, conducting or overseeing internal audit compliance reviews, updating training materials for internal use and sharing them on the intranet, addressing income tax-related inquiries from warehouses, accounting, purchasing teams, and vendors, offering recommendations on system application adjustments to align with legislative requirements, and undertaking additional tasks or projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare quarterly income tax provisions and year-end journal entries

  • Prepare tax-related documents and slips

  • Develop provision-to-return workbooks
  • Calculate and submit income tax installments
  • Create quarterly workbooks for intercompany transactions
  • Reconcile income tax accounts
  • Verify GST/HST, QST, and PST accuracy
  • Oversight of GST/HST, QST, and PST remittance
  • Collect information on special transactions
  • Stay updated on tax legislation changes
  • Conduct internal audit compliance reviews
  • Update training materials
  • Address income tax inquiries
  • Offer system application recommendations
Qualifications
  • University degree in an accounting-related field
  • Accounting professional designation (CPA)
  • Minimum five years of tax experience
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of business software applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Database Management)
  • Knowledge of SAP and Vertex is an asset
  • Strong leadership skills
