Expert Waste Management Specialist

About the Position:
OFNTSC is seeking an experienced Expert Waste Management Specialist to join our team in Brantford, ON. This role will provide advisory and technical services to First Nation clients on waste disposal site operation, maintenance, and development.
About the Job:
- Maintain accurate records and filing systems according to office procedures.
- Prepare and manage reports as required.
- Submit schedules and task updates to supervisors as needed.
- Assist with event planning and coordination.
- Contribute to maintaining the Solid Waste Portal with relevant educational and technical resources.
- Manage consultant contracts, work plans, and deliverables effectively.
- Research and prepare funding applications for corporate initiatives.
- Oversee and enhance waste diversion programs while ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations.
- Develop a thorough understanding of landfill and transfer station operations to advise client communities effectively.
- Familiarize yourself with various funding agencies and their respective application processes.
- Present information at meetings, workshops, and forums confidently.
- Prepare comprehensive reviews and summaries for First Nation solid waste management systems.
- Maintain up-to-date records of Ontario First Nations' solid waste infrastructure and programs.
- Prepare capital applications, RFPs, and project reports related to funding and infrastructure.
- Deliver training and advisory services to enhance First Nation waste management expertise.
- Organize and coordinate solid waste management training sessions successfully.
- Analyze and interpret federal and provincial legislation, guidelines, and regulations accurately.
- Nurture relationships with client communities, stakeholders, and government agencies, familiarizing yourself with First Nation community protocols and procedures.
About You:
- A post-secondary degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Sensitivity towards the unique needs of First Nations peoples is essential.
- You possess excellent project management skills to handle contracts, work plans, and deliverables effectively.
- Experience in developing and implementing solid waste management initiatives is highly valued.
- Superior writing, research, and analytical skills are necessary for success in this role.
About Compensation:
We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000-$110,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience, along with a benefits package that supports your well-being and professional growth.
