Job Summary:

The Southern First Nations Network of Care is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Service Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to our clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide consultation and support to Southern Agencies and external agencies on matters related to Family Service transfers, Permanent Ward transfers, Section 42 & 49, interprovincial inquiries, and other requests.
  • Navigate the Provincial, Territorial Protocol on Children, Youth and Families Moving between Provinces and Territories when transferring children and youth out of the province of Manitoba.
  • Assist in the coordination of services, including information sharing and gathering.
  • Receive, track, and file Voluntary Placement Agreements and Voluntary Surrender of Guardianship from member agencies.
  • Create and implement VSG rescindment processes and train member agencies on the VSG rescindment process.
  • Work in collaboration with the VSG rescindment committee to review and recommend VSG rescindment applications for approval.
  • Understand procedures and practices within the context of child and family service standards.
  • Respond to time-sensitive requests for documents.
  • Perform administrative duties to enter stats in the SFNNC electronic data system and filing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, with a preference for Bachelor of Social Work degrees.
  • Two years of experience working in Child and Family Services, with other acceptable combinations of education and related experience considered.
  • A thorough understanding of Bill C-92 Child Welfare Legislation, relevant Acts, Standards, Regulations, and AJI-CWI.
  • Knowledge of interprovincial protocol, policy, and procedures (Section 42 & 49).
  • Knowledge of Voluntary Placement Agreements and Voluntary Surrender of Guardianship and the ability to incorporate any upcoming changes to these processes.
  • Effective and professional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience and familiarity with Microsoft software (Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Detail-oriented and organized with skills to optimize client and collateral staff needs.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment and manage deadlines.
  • Flexible to adapt to changing work conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Must have demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal culture and traditions.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Must have regular access to a reliable vehicle and a Class 5 driver's license for business travel.
