Service Assistant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Service Assistant to join our team at Southeast Child Family Services. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing support and services to children and families in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the intake process, providing input on the most suitable services for clients under various acts and legislation.
- Provide brief services to lower-risk client files, ensuring all necessary services are delivered within a 3-month timeframe to facilitate safe case closure.
- Offer intensive support and services to high-risk client files, collaborating with Direct Service Workers to develop strong case plans and achieve stabilization.
- Assist families with daily tasks, such as supervising visits, shopping, and accessing essential services.
- Provide regular updates to Direct Service Workers and unit Supervisor on client progress.
- Document all client interactions and activities, including transportation logs, school contacts, and home visit reports.
- Work collaboratively with the Intake and Assessment team and Direct Service staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently while receiving guidance from diverse caseworkers and external partners.
- Approach conflicts with a calm and professional demeanor, seeking effective resolutions.
- Foster positive relationships with community partners and resource providers to ensure clients have access to necessary support systems.
- Provide comprehensive support to staff, clients, and caregivers, understanding and meeting their various needs within the case management process.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12/equivalent or relevant post-secondary education.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Indigenous culture and the rural cultural environment.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation, including The Child and Family Services Act, The Adoption Act, and An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit, and Métis children, youth, and families.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills (oral, written, and listening).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CFSIS, and IM.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact Check.
