Laboratory Technician

Job Summary:

As a Laboratory Technician at CSA Group, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of products. Under the guidance of senior staff, you will set up, operate, and maintain test equipment, conduct routine tests, and record technical data.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and using personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Operate test equipment, perform tests, and determine compliance with requirements, recommending certification when necessary.
  • Conduct routine tests independently and assist in complex or unusual tests under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Record technical data, draft reports, and write product descriptions.
  • Perform mathematical calculations to summarize test results and relate them to product specifications.
  • Act as a liaison with other departments as required.
  • Assemble and disassemble test samples, hook up laboratory test equipment, and operate most laboratory test equipment.
  • Record discrepancies in products and refer them to senior staff or the Certifier.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Requirements:

  • 3-year Engineering Technician (OACETT) or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology.
  • 3-4 years of related experience.
  • Related certification to the field, e.g., Wire and cable product.
