Laboratory Technician

At North York General Hospital, we are committed to excellence in patient care. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a vital role in our team, ensuring the safe handling and processing of laboratory specimens. Your goal will be to perform laboratory procedures in accordance with departmental and divisional policies, including phlebotomy, ECG, and specimen processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, sort, and prepare specimens for testing and referral
  • Receive patients, staff, and visitors to the laboratory
  • Perform blood collection (venipunctures and capillary punctures) and ECGs
  • Enter information into the lab computer and generate reports and work lists
  • Handle and distribute reports, record sheets, and specimens

Requirements:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • OSMT/CSMLS Certification or equivalent
  • Hospital experience preferred
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset
