Hospice Mississauga is a leading charitable organization providing compassionate care and support to individuals and families living with life-threatening illnesses in Mississauga. We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Operations Officer to join our team.

Salary

The salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $100,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled financial leader who can oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, internal controls, and asset management. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing policies, protocols, and processes that align with the organization's mission and strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Administration
    • Ensure accurate recording of accounting functions for monthly and annual financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements.
    • Support the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets for each department/program in collaboration with department leaders.
    • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, forecasts, and scenario modelling for distribution to the Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team.
    • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and manage banking relationships, cash flow, and investments.
    • Develop and implement financial internal controls and manage organizational assets.
    • Oversee payroll processing and ensure accurate reporting.
  • CORPORATE SERVICES
    • Work with Human Resources to maintain compliance, safety, and wellness within the workplace.
    • Review and approve contracts and agreements with funding or liability implications.
    • Manage a team of financial and administrative professionals and handle property issues.
    • Oversee information technology development and implementation across the organization.
    • Ensure data retention and client records comply with relevant Privacy Legislation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in management/administration, accounting, or commerce.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) preferred.
  • Extensive experience in accounting systems, budgets, internal controls, business planning, and asset management.
  • Knowledge of fund accounting, GAAP, and federal and provincial legislation affecting charities is an asset.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
