Job Summary:

The Receiving Operator will be responsible for managing raw materials, dumping, and plant support. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive and manage all raw material trucks and materials, including weighing, unloading, cleaning, and parking trucks.
  • Shunt trucks and trailers in the yard, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
  • Monitor daily dispatch sheets to prioritize dumping of trailers and ensure drivers have the required trailers for their run.
  • Work in tandem with other shunters to coordinate dumping, draining, and cleaning of trailers.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly receiving area, ensuring all equipment and vehicles are in good condition.
  • Accurately complete and submit all required paperwork, including receiver documents, weigh tickets, and HACCP forms.
  • Follow all company and health and safety rules, and communicate any reportable incidents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including plant duties.
Requirements:
  • Class G driver's license.
  • Provincial Secondary School Graduate Diploma or greater.
  • Flexibility to work shifts as required.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to Darling's company values.
  • Physically able to perform the work.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions, consistent with the AODA, ESA, OHSA, and other federal and provincial standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance, consistent with the AODA, ESA, OHSA, and other federal and provincial standards.
  • Ability to keep up with physically demanding tasks, such as repetitive bending, pulling, pushing, lifting, and walking, standing, and moving for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs and maneuver 200kg drums as required.
  • Endurance for consecutive multi-drum and dumping workload.
  • Ability to climb onto truck trailers, climb truck ladders, stretch, and view difficult areas.
  • Ability to push/pull to connect hoses to trailers.
  • Ability to drive trucks within the yard safely and carefully.
  • Ability to focus for moderate periods of time while driving in the yard, dumping/filling trailers, and accurately completing paperwork.
