About the Opportunity
We're looking for a motivated engineering student with a drive for continuous improvement to join our team in a challenging role. As a Production/Tooling Design Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to design processes or tooling to improve safety, quality, productivity or cost issues.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and maintain a continuous improvement culture using lean manufacturing tools, focusing on the elimination of waste while striving to provide increased value to our customers, both internal and external
- Manage projects aimed at improving process flow while optimizing space, quality, safety, and ergonomics
- Gauge production performance, identify bottlenecks and suggest/implement changes as required
- Develop and document standard work, including work methods and cell layouts
- Conduct time studies to develop base times or evaluate different processes
About You
To qualify, you will need to be enrolled in an engineering program (mechanical/industrial focus is preferred) and be eligible for your college's internship/coop program. The following qualifications will be needed to successfully perform this role:
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft office and 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and concepts
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- High degree of analytical thought and creativity
- Effective troubleshooting & problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is an asset
