Estimator - Residential Developer

We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our clients dynamic team at a leading residential home developer in the Vaughan area. The ideal candidate will have a strong contracts background, hands-on experience with Newstar software, and proven expertise in residential estimation. This role is crucial in providing accurate cost estimates to support project planning and execution, ensuring efficiency and profitability in our home-building projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects, including labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
  • Analyze project blueprints, specifications, and related documents to develop accurate bids.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and negotiate terms.
  • Utilize Newstar software to manage estimation data, track costs, and generate reports.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to refine project scopes and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain a cost database to enhance future estimating accuracy.
  • Assist in preparing contracts and scope of work documents.
  • Monitor project budgets, highlighting variances and assisting in value engineering.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in residential estimation.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and residential building standards.
  • Proficiency in Newstar software and related estimating tools.
  • Background in contracts management, with a good understanding of legal and financial aspects.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
