Strategic Underwriting Leader for Specialty Lines

At Intact Financial Corporation, we're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Underwriter to join our team in the Specialty Lines Liability department. As a key member of our underwriting team, you'll play a crucial role in driving business growth and maintaining strong relationships with our distribution network.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective business strategies to achieve premium growth goals and retention levels.
  • Work collaboratively with our team to analyze, select, and price Liability business within Intact's guidelines and pricing framework.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, internal stakeholders, and external business partners.
  • Participate in business development initiatives, including broker visits, industry events, and conferences.
  • Communicate changes and updates related to product pricing, underwriting guidelines, and new products.
  • Provide underwriting training and mentorship to new hires, sharing expertise and best practices.


What You'll Bring:

  • University degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or FCIP designation preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive underwriting experience in large commercial liability or Specialty lines.
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial Liability policy wordings for large commercial Property Liability customers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster effective relationships at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Highly analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Bilingual (French and English) is an asset.
