Recreation Programmer II

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Programmer II to join our team at the City of Vancouver. This is a regular full-time position that will play a key role in the development, coordination, and implementation of community recreation programs.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the planning and implementation of community recreation programs, including coordinating and directing program activities.
- Oversee the development and implementation of programs and services, including adult/seniors programming, fitness center operations, pottery studio programming, and facility maintenance.
- Provide guidance and recommendations to community program committees and promote interest and participation in program activities.
- Recruit, instruct, and direct group leaders, part-time staff, and volunteers, and supervise the work of other full-time and part-time staff involved in approved recreation programs.
- Monitor programs, keep statistical records, and prepare narrative evaluations of programs.
- Maintain a variety of operating and administrative records, provide cost and revenue estimates for community center recreation programs, and assist in overseeing collection and accounting for admissions and fees.
- Post-secondary degree in Recreation or a related discipline and sound experience related to the work.
- Considerable knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of a planned community recreation program.
- Working knowledge of the policies of the Board of Parks and Recreation as applied to community recreation.
- Working knowledge of the procedures and programming requirements in at least one and preferably more of the following areas: amateur sports, physical fitness, arts and crafts, aquatics, ice surface, and social, cultural, or adapted programming.
- Ability to organize, promote, and direct others in a variety of group recreational activities.
- Ability to provide guidance to community recreation program committees and to promote interest and participation in program activities.
- Ability to recruit, instruct, provide orientation, assign, and review the work of recreational personnel.
- Ability to meet and deal tactfully with the public and maintain control and exercise discipline.
