We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Campus Tutor. As a Campus Tutor, you will provide academic support to students enrolled in courses of the same program of studies as the peer tutor.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individualized academic assistance to assigned students, helping them develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying.
- Establish liaison with instructors, lab demonstrators, or department chairs to assist students and work under their direction, if necessary.
- Help students develop self-confidence, raise self-concept, and reduce anxiety or fear of failure in academic work.
- Assist students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and improving academic capabilities in designated areas.
- Help students develop the study skills necessary for academic success.
- Establish and maintain rapport with assigned students, serving as a role model and providing guidance and support.
- Basic knowledge and abilities appropriate to the assigned tasks.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform basic clerical functions and operate standard office appliances and equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, instructors, and students.
- Meet the qualifications outlined in the Financial Aid Work on Campus program.
- Meet the qualifications outlined in the CUPE collective agreement for Peer Tutors.
