Job Summary:

The Electrical Systems Specialist will be responsible for assembling and repairing electrical harnesses for installation by soldering, crimping, twisting, encapsulation, and testing with the assistance of work instructions, drawings, and various technical publications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture and repair electrical harnesses using production control cards, wire assembly operation sheets, and/or other company or customer process specifications.
  • Assemble assemblies using production control cards, wire assembly operation sheets, and/or other company or customer process specifications.
  • Solder to standards established by the company with regular requalification.
  • Operate cut & coding as well as labeling machines.
  • Fabricate cable assemblies by grouping, twisting, sleeving, potting, tying, and prepares assemblies for stores.
  • Operate automatic test equipment for acceptance testing of wire assemblies or circuit boards.
  • Manufacture/repair circuit board and component wiring with assistance from engineering drawings, technical manuals, or other directives.
  • Assist on-job-training of other electrical systems specialists.

Requirements:

  • Entrants into the Electrical Systems Specialist trade will have a High School Leaving Certificate or Vocational/Trade School training course.
  • Training in a mechanical/electrical field and a blueprint reading course will be an asset.
  • To reach the top of this classification, the incumbent will have four (4) year's experience as an Electrical Systems Specialist and completed all O.J.T. performance objectives.
  • Incumbents must be able to pass and maintain Public Works Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and Transport Canada security clearances.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment policies. Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 5S activities in your area.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program.
