About the Position:
The Centre for Engineering in Society invites applications for two Limited Term Appointment (LTA) faculty members at the rank of Lecturer in the areas of Technical Communication, and Technology and Society. This posting is for two 24-month Limited Term contracts.
Job Description:
The CES teaches courses in technical communication, communication of innovation, innovation for engineers, and social implications of technology. Depending on skills and qualifications, incumbents will be assigned undergraduate and graduate courses within one or more of the following areas: technical and professional communication, impact of engineering on society, social and ethical implications of digital technologies, gender, equity, diversity and inclusion.
Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in technical communication, technology and society, and related areas.
- Develop online courses as part of the teaching load.
- Contribute to the academic functions of the university.
Qualifications and Assets:
- Hold a Ph.D. in technical communication, or science and technology studies, or another discipline that will contribute to CES's mission.
- Demonstrated ability in teaching engineering students, with experience in writing support technologies, teaching technology, engineering and society, or related areas.
- Experience in developing courses, especially in an online format, is an asset.
Concordia University:
Concordia University is an English-language institution of higher learning at which the primary language of instruction and research is English. Proficiency in English is required. Working knowledge of French, including reading and grading student work in French, is an asset.
