Job Summary

Spectrum Health Care Inc is seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist Consultant to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathologist Consultant, you will play a vital role in providing rehabilitative services to our clients in Toronto.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate patients' speech, language, and swallowing abilities, identifying areas of impairment and establishing treatment goals.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, incorporating evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions.
  • Direct Therapy: Provide direct therapy to patients to improve their speech production, language comprehension and expression, articulation, voice quality, fluency, and swallowing function.
  • Therapeutic Modalities: Utilize a variety of treatment modalities, such as articulation therapy, language therapy, oral motor exercises, cognitive-communication therapy, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies.
  • Equipment and Device Support: Assist patients/families with obtaining equipment and devices that aid communication strategies (e.g. AAC devices, assistive listening devices, communication applications, etc.).
  • Guidance and Support: Provide guidance and support to patients, families, and caregivers to facilitate carryover of therapy techniques and strategies into daily life.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of a Master's degree from a Speech Language Pathology program.
  • Registration: Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience working as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Community Experience: Experience working in a community setting is an asset.
  • Driver's License: Valid Ontario driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Assessment and Treatment Skills: Proficient in conducting assessments, interpreting assessment results, and formulating evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Assessment Tools and Techniques: Experience using a variety of assessment tools and therapy techniques commonly used in speech-language pathology.
