Speech Language Pathologist Consultant Job Description

Spectrum Health Care Inc is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist Consultant to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathologist Consultant, you will play a vital role in providing rehabilitative services to clients in Toronto.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work as an independent contractor, providing in-home and virtual consultations with patients and Spectrum leadership. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing direct therapy to patients to improve their speech production, language comprehension, and swallowing function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate patients' speech, language, and swallowing abilities.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
  • Provide direct therapy to patients to improve their speech production, language comprehension, and swallowing function.
  • Utilize a variety of treatment modalities, such as articulation therapy, language therapy, oral motor exercises, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies.
  • Assist patients/families with obtaining equipment and devices that aid communication strategies.
  • Provide guidance and support to patients, families, and caregivers to facilitate carryover of therapy techniques and strategies into daily life.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a Master's degree from a Speech Language Pathology program.
  • Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Experience working in a community setting is an asset.
  • Valid Ontario driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Proficient in conducting assessments, interpreting assessment results, and formulating evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Experience using a variety of assessment tools and therapy techniques commonly used in speech-language pathology.
