About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Health Protection Consultant to join our team at the Department of Health and Wellness. As a key member of our Public Health Branch, you will play a critical role in informing and providing leadership to the strategic direction for the Health Protection programs.

Reporting to the Director, Health Protection, you will be responsible for assessing risk to emerging/re-emerging communicable/infectious diseases and developing a coordinated response to that risk. You will also provide consultation and subject matter expertise to public health professionals, internal and external stakeholders, and organizations on issues pertaining to vaccines and immunization programming.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing risk to emerging/re-emerging communicable/infectious diseases
  • Developing a coordinated response to that risk
  • Providing consultation and subject matter expertise to public health professionals, internal and external stakeholders, and organizations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Public Health Sciences, or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 6 years of experience in public health sciences, specifically related to areas of health protection such as communicable/infectious disease and immunization
  • Credentials as a Registered Nurse or Certified Public Health Inspector
