About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer-in-Training to join our team at Williams Engineering Canada. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our Project Managers to assist on various projects and contribute to the technical capability and production requirements of our Service Line.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Team Lead/Project Manager/Engineering Manager to provide our clients with finished projects in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with the Project Manager, collecting and coordinating useful information.
  • Maintain a working relationship with other teammates.
  • Participate in discussions with clients as required.
  • Interpret basic architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
  • Review shop drawings.
  • Under supervision, examine structural systems to satisfy architectural, mechanical, and electrical requirements.
  • Under supervision, make technical decisions on routine projects.
  • Under supervision, conduct routine site reviews during construction.
  • Write basic field review and technical reports.
  • Under supervision, prepare engineering design, specification, and/or recommendations for a variety of concrete, masonry, steel, and timber structures.
  • Understand and apply CSA standards related to concrete, steel, masonry, and wood design and construction.
  • Develop routine structural drawings with draftsperson.
  • Develop and apply appropriate load criteria for structures.
  • Under supervision by a senior teammates member, conduct facility evaluations.
  • Gain an understanding of quality control.
  • Perpetuate, clarify, and embody WE Purpose and Core Values.
  • Teammates are required to adhere to the company policies and guidelines as well as the company and client safety policies and practices in effect at any given time.
  • Have the ability to apply for a Federal security clearance in order to work on institutional projects as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • May hold a Master's Degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) status with appropriate Provincial Association.
  • Working towards a P.Eng.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license.
