About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at WSP Canada. As a Junior Geotechnical Engineer, you will provide technical support to our experienced engineers on a wide range of projects throughout Eastern Ontario and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical services in both field and office environments, including conducting site reconnaissance, inspections, and observations.
  • Carry out fieldwork, directing fieldwork operations for subsurface investigations, including layout, supervising drill rigs and/or excavators, logging boreholes and test pits, site surveying to determine elevations at specific locations, sampling soil and groundwater, and preparing detailed site sketches.
  • Use specialized equipment and analytical software to prepare analyses, reports, and technical drawings.
  • Summarize and analyze findings from investigations and lab testing for report writing.
  • Collaborate with and provide technical support to other local and regionally based WSP teams, including mining, coastal, civil, municipal, environmental, archaeology, and more.
Requirements
  • University or equivalent education or experience in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering.
  • Strong report writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Between 0 to 5 years' of relevant experience in the field of geotechnical and geological engineering.
  • Access to a vehicle, a clean Driver's Abstract, and proficiency in the MS Office suite of products.
  • Previous experience attending to active construction sites is an asset.
