Laboratory Facilitator, Sport Science

At Douglas College, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Facilitator to join our Sport Science team. As a key member of our faculty, you will provide instructional and research support to students, faculty, and staff, while developing internal and community partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide lab instruction and demonstration for Sport Science courses, including supervision of open lab environments.
- Evaluate student work and performance in relation to laboratory requirements.
- Prepare materials for use in the lab, subject to the curricula approval of the Sport Science faculty.
- Perform other related duties, including scheduling and testing clients on basic fitness tests, gathering specifications for future lab purchases, and performing routine clerical duties.
- A degree in Sport Science or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary educational institution and one or two years of lab experience in a sport or activity-based area.
- In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of fitness assessment and prescription.
- Good working knowledge of course content, operation, and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and apparatus, and modern techniques pertaining to the instruction of science courses.
- Some knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), HTML programming, as well as common sport, fitness, analytical software/databases.
- Good working knowledge of the English language (written and verbal).
- A demonstrated ability to instruct students and public clients professionally and effectively, communicate courteously and effectively in person, in writing, and over the telephone, and work independently with minimum direct supervision.
