Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in the Adult Psychiatric Unit. As a key member of our interprofessional healthcare team, you will provide safe and effective nursing care to patients with complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being, and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide education and support to patients and their families.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
  • Minimum one year of nursing experience in an acute adult inpatient psychiatric setting within the last three years.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) certification.
  • Working knowledge of collaborative problem-solving, psychotropic medication, psychiatric disorders, and therapeutic interventions.
