Laporte Consultants is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Technologist to join our team in Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton.

This position involves working as part of an integrated project team, reporting to the Director of the Vancouver office. The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of consulting tasks, including:

  • Designing HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems under the supervision of an engineer;
  • Performing 3D modeling and drafting of piping systems using AutoCAD and Revit, including air distribution calculations, duct sizing, duct layout, refrigerant piping, chilled water piping, and diffusers/grill sizing;
  • Preparing specifications and bills of quantities;
  • Conducting site surveys and construction follow-ups;

The ideal candidate will have a Technologist Degree, certification in Mechanical or Industrial design and drafting, or equivalent experience, and a minimum of 2 years of experience in piping and mechanical building design. Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit, specifically in 3D modeling, is also required. Experience with Autodesk Plant 3D or Autodesk Navisworks is an asset, as is process design knowledge and experience with sanitary process piping in the food and beverage industry.
