Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer Apprentice to join our Engineering Services team in Richmond, BC. As an apprentice, you will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of a Professional Engineer registered in BC, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in transitioning existing designs from legacy systems into our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) database, ensuring seamless integration of water slide parts, product assemblies, electrical/mechanical items, and structural elements.
- Analyze differences in worldwide materials standards and perform relevant calculations to propose standard substitutions, optimizing our design processes.
- Mark up existing drawings to identify parts already in PLM or requiring setup, working closely with staff to ensure accurate documentation.
- Adhere to established protocols for creation and storage of all parts, assemblies, and drawings, maintaining high-quality standards.
- Occasionally update existing parts, assemblies, and drawings to conform to current protocols, ensuring consistency across our designs.
- Create CAD models, fabrication part drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs) for use by our manufacturers, streamlining our production processes.
Requirements
- Pursuing post-secondary education in a related field (Mechanical Technologist, Mechanical Engineer, or Mechatronics).
- Proficiency in CAD software, including SolidWorks, with consideration given to those holding CSWA certification.
- Familiarity with drawing standards, with ASME certification being an asset.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
